Jack Wu, also known as Wu Jie, graduated and got his master degree from Department of Photography, Beijing Film Academy in 1989, is a famous and senior TV commercials and short film director. After graduation, he worked in the academy as a teacher to teach TV commercials and short film. Since 1990, he has worked as a director and cameraman to produce TV commercials for the local clients. In most cases, he has also provided originality. In October 1996, he cooperated with Shanghai Ogilvy Advertising Co., Ltd. to produce his first 4A commercial –“Tongyi instant noodles (produced by President Enterprises Corp.), the northern noodles”. In 1997, he set up the individual directing studio—Alwaysfilm. After that, he began to cooperate with 4A advertising companies, such as Saatchi HK, Grey HK, LB HK, Darcy GZ, O&M BJ, O&M SH, Macann BJ, Grey BJ, Denshu BJ, FCB BJ, and some local advertisement agencies as a full-time director and cameraman. He directed and produced many commercials, including commercials of the products and images of some famous national and international brands/companies, such as Pantene Pearl-White Shampoo Series, Tide Washing Powder, Crest Toothpaste, Pampers Baby Paper Diaper, Snow Beer, Yanjing Beer, Changchun Suzuki Motorcycle, Lenovo, Imperial Leather Soap (U.K.), China Unicom, China Telecom, Image of PICC, Image of Ping An Insurance (Group) Company Of China, Ltd., ColaCao and Aoni Shampoo, etc. |

Since 1999, he had acted as the judge of Young Times Advertising Awards of Mainland China for three years in a row. He was elected to be the America CLIO “Top 50 Originality Elites” in 2000. His works won Asia-Pacific Advertising Awards Bronze Awards, hosted by Taiwan Times, in 1999; the 6th National Advertising Fair Silver Prize and Bronze prize, and Hong Kong 4A Advertising Awards in 2000. In 2001, he quitted the lecturer job and left Beijing Film Academy in order to go to New Zealand for further studies. In October 2002, he went back to Beijing and took TV Commercial and short film director as his full-time job. |

In the summer of 2004, Zhang Yimou invited Jack Wu as his executive director for a five-minute TV program—Urban Image of Chengdu and a ten-minute short film –My Uncle Youngor. As the executive producer, he assists producer Zhang Yimou in TV advertisement (endorsed by Kris Phillips, a, k.a. Fei Xiang) of “Youngor” suit and trousers in 2004. |

The TV program, the Urban Image of Chengdu won a high prize from the government leaders of Chengdu while the short film was awarded Gold Medal of entrepreneur culture propaganda. |

In 2005, Feng Xiaogang produced a short film for Jiatong cell phone,and invited Jack Wu to be the director.The short film was broadcasted on CCTV-Movie Channel and Sina Movie & Entertainment Channel. It was the most excellent and influential advertising case in that year and won great praises. |

As the executive producer, he assists producer Feng Xiaogang in TV advertisement (endorsed by Andy Lau) of “Jinli” cell phone in 2006. |

In 2007, he cooperated with Feng Xiaogang again to direct an Olympic public service commercial (sponsored by THE PLACE) which was co-starred by 8 movie stars of HY Brothers Company. Now the commercial is currently broadcasting on many medias and getting public praises. |
